How It Works

Three simple steps to transform surplus food into community meals. From listing to impact.

Step 1: List Surplus Food

Donors upload food details to make it available for matching.

What Donors Provide
  • Food Details: Type, quantity, ingredients, allergens
  • Photos: Clear images showing packaging & condition
  • Origin: Where the food came from (restaurant, school, etc.)
  • Pickup Window: When food can be collected
  • Storage Info: How it was stored, temperature maintained
  • Certifications: Health/safety documents if available
Verification at Listing

Donor identity verified. Food details reviewed. Platform confirms listing meets all safety requirements before going live.

Step 2: Match & Notify

Intelligent matching connects donors with the right recipients & couriers.

How Matching Works
  • AI Algorithm: Platform analyzes food type, quantity, pickup location
  • Need Assessment: Matches with registered NGOs requesting that food type
  • Proximity: Prioritizes nearest recipient to minimize logistics
  • Availability: Confirms courier availability for pickup time
  • Notifications: All parties receive real-time alerts
What Happens Next

NGO confirms they can accept. Courier accepts pickup task. Donor approves matched team. Pickup time & location confirmed with all parties.

Step 3: Facilitate Delivery

Courier collects, transports, and delivers. Impact is recorded.

Delivery Process
1
Pickup Confirmation

Courier arrives at donor location. Scans QR code. Takes photos of food before pickup. Donor signs off.

2
Real-Time Tracking

GPS tracks delivery route. Platform & all parties see live progress. Temperature maintained for cold items.

3
Delivery & Impact

Recipient confirms receipt & condition. Reports meals served & beneficiaries. Impact credits awarded to all parties.

Common Questions

Average delivery time from pickup to recipient is 30-60 minutes, depending on location. For fresh food, we prioritize speed to maintain quality & temperature.

Our 4-level verification process catches issues early. If food quality is compromised during delivery, the recipient can reject the batch and the incident is logged. The donor is not penalized if courier was at fault. All parties share responsibility.

Multi-level verification:
  • Donor submits certified origin & storage details
  • Platform reviews food documentation & photos
  • Courier inspects at pickup with QR verification
  • Recipient does final safety check before distribution

Yes! Donors can set preferences for recipient NGOs and the platform will prioritize their requests when making matches. This helps build long-term partnerships & familiarity with recipients.

Impact credits = Meals Saved × 5 + (Food Weight in kg × 1) CO₂ credit
Example: 100 meals (500 lbs) = 500 meal credits + 227 kg × 1 CO₂ credit = 727 total impact credits
